There are often no symptoms of anal cancer in its early stages. But there may be bleeding, discomfort or pressure, discharge, pain, itching or a palpable rectal mass. Small amounts of rectal bleeding are often attributed to hemorrhoids.
Occasionally, a change in bowel habits, diarrhea or constipation may be noted. There may be local pain or pressure that is not relieved by a bowel movement.
